ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has urged the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to engage in progressive research work with integration of Islamic knowledge with contemporary academics.

Talking to the Rector of IIUI Professor Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President Professor Dr. Ahmed Yousif Ahmed Al Draiweesh in Islamabad on Monday, the prime minister said that the federal government is focusing on higher education. 

The prime minister emphasized that academicians play the most important role in character building of our young generation.

The President IIUI briefed the prime minister on achievements and research work of the Islamic University.

Earlier, a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmakers from Rawalpindi Division also met the prime minister, and briefed him on development projects and public welfare schemes of their respective constituencies.
