ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has wished a speedy recovery to the former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

“My prayers and good wishes go to my friend Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for his speedy recovery,” the prime minister wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

The 96-year-old Mahathir Mohamad is currently admitted at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It is the third time that the former Malaysian prime minister has been hospitalized in just over a month.

On Tuesday, his daughter Marina Mahathir said that the former Malaysian leader has an improved appetite and even made jokes with family. She also said her father requested people not be too worried about his health.

Dr. Mahathir Mohamad underwent two heart bypass surgeries in 1989 and 2007.

Mahathir Mohamad served as the Prime Minister of Malaysia twice – from July 1981 to October 2003 and later from May 2018 to March 2020 – making him the Country’s longest-serving prime minister.
