NationalPM Imran Khan decides to establish Pakistan Emergency Helpline

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In the aftermath of the horrifying motorway gang-rape tragedy, Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to establish the Pakistan Emergency Helpline (PEHEL).

In this regard, directives have been issued to the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU) to work out a system of emergency helpline at the national level.

The system will provide a service to the general public by enabling them to use a universal phone number at the national level upfront against all operational emergency numbers of different organizations at the federal/provincial level.

The prime minister directed to establish the national helpline number within two months to help deal with any untoward situation, and all existing emergency helpline numbers throughout the Country will be connected to the new system.

All Cellular Companies will extend assistance to make the service free.

In addition, legislation will be enacted after consultation with provinces to make the system efficient and stable
