ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that it has been decided to bring reforms in Punjab Police, and introduce a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)-like Police Act in Punjab.

While briefing the media after a high-level meeting held in Islamabad on Thursday with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chair in connection with reforms in Punjab Police, Fawad Chaudhry said that it has been decided to devise a Comprehensive Plan to bring instant reforms in Punjab Police.

Fawad Chaudhry said that in the first Phase, 100 Police Stations in Punjab will be transformed into Model Police Stations.

The minister said that it has also been decided to train the Police Officers and Personnel in modern lines to change the Police Culture.

The information minister also said that those involved in Sahiwal tragedy will be held accountable and brought to justice.

Earlier the meeting was attended by the Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, the Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and others.

Briefing the media about the Federal Cabinet meeting, Fawad Chaudhry said that the Cabinet has approved initiatives to be taken for the establishment of the proposed new Media Regulatory Authority.

The minister told that the Federal Cabinet has decided to make consultation with concerned parties on the establishment of the Media Regulatory Authority.
