ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A meeting to review annual performance of senior officers of PEMRA was held at the Authority’s Headquarters in Islamabad on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by the Chairman PEMRA Muhammad Saleem Baig.

Senior Director Generals, Director Generals and Senior Officers of all Regional Offices of PEMRA attended the meeting.

In the meeting, the authority’s performance related to the administrative and financial issues were reviewed.

The recovery constraints being faced by the authority due to recent floods in Sindh and Balochistan were analyzed.

During the meeting, it was decided to grant FM radio licenses in FATA and merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Moreover, policy for cable licensing in underserved area and IPTV policy was finalized.

Apart from this, various issues were taken into consideration while evaluating the performance related to the collection of revenue and a committee for revision of the tariff of cable TV was also taken into consideration.

The Chairman PEMRA while addressing the officers took a briefing on day-to-day affairs, recovery and emphasized on implementation of PEMRA laws in light and spirit. Indian transmission should be strictly prohibited as the content viewed on them is harmful to our religious and social values and for the economy of Pakistan.

Special instructions were issued to all Regional Directors for following zero tolerance policy on distribution of Indian/illegal channels.

He urged all the officers to show exemplary performance for improving the image and prestige of the institution.

He asked the PEMRA officers to ensure the implementation of PEMRA laws and emphasized to ensure strong communication and consultation with all stakeholders for development of media industry in Pakistan.
