Parliament’s resolution to help govt formulate its policy on Yemen: Nawaz

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the resolution passed by the joint session of the Parliament will help the government formulate its policy and future course of action on the Yemen issue.

In his address at a meeting of parliamentary party leaders in Islamabad on Friday, the prime minister said that the federal government called the joint session to benefit from the collective wisdom of parliamentarians.

“Any violation of the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia or any threat to Harmain Al-Sharifain will evoke a strong reaction from Pakistan,” Nawaz Sharif reiterated.

On the occasion, the parliamentary leaders appreciated the prime minister for calling joint session to debate this important issue, enabling parliamentarians to express their opinion on this matter of utmost importance.

Meanwhile, the joint session of the Parliament unanimously passed a resolution, urging the federal government to maintain neutrality in the Yemen conflict so as to be able to play a proactive diplomatic role to end the crisis.

Separately, the Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed said that the federal government greatly honors the resolution on Yemen crisis unanimously passed by the Parliament.

Talking to media in Islamabad, he said that it is for the first time in the history of the country that important foreign policy decision has been made by the people of the country in the Parliament.

“Pakistan wants to resolve the Yemen crisis peacefully through political and diplomatic means,” the minister said.

The information said that the Pakistani government will continue efforts in league with countries of the region for resolving the issue through dialogue.
