PakistanZardari dual office case: LHC issues notice to federation

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued a notice to the federation seeking assurances that President Asif Ali Zardari will voluntarily quit political activities in the Presidency, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

A five-member bench of the court, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the contempt of court petition against President Zardari for his political activities and holding dual office (PPP co-chairperson).

On Feb 6, LHC welcomed the President’s decision to voluntarily quit the political office after the federation’s lawyer assured the bench in writing.

During today’s proceedings, counsel for the federation, Advocate Wasim Sajjad, reassured the court that the Presidency would not be used for any political activities.
