KARACHI, Pakistan: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has invested $34 million towards the capacity building of the future Pakistani professionals.

This was stated by the Pakistan Mission Director John Groarke, says a statement issued here on Monday.

He was speaking at the sixth conference on corporate innovation and entrepreneurship held here at local hotel.

John Groarke was of the view that it was a great day for Pakistani entrepreneurs, as the next generation of the country’s business leaders joined the 8th Business Acceleration Program finals and 6th Conference on Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship. And, the USAID was there to celebrate with its partner: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Forum of Pakistan.

USAID, he said, has invested $34 million in training to enhance the capacity of future Pakistani professionals. We are focusing on education, health, energy and governance.

According to Mr. Groarke, the program will train more than 6,000 Pakistanis by May 2017.

`I am proud that the United States and Pakistan share a long history of collaboration on economic growth dating back more than 50 years’, said U.S. Consulate General Political and Economic Chief Chad Peterson.

`Promoting entrepreneurship is important in creating the employment that will lead to increased international competitiveness and higher standards of living for Pakistani families’.

The high-profile event attracted participants from USAID, foreign dignitaries, investors, entrepreneurs, senior academicians and students.
