KARACHI, Pakistan: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has invested $34 million towards the capacity building of the future Pakistani professionals.

This was stated by the Pakistan Mission Director John Groarke, says a statement issued here on Monday.

He was speaking at the sixth conference on corporate innovation and entrepreneurship held here at local hotel.

John Groarke was of the view that it was a great day for Pakistani entrepreneurs, as the next generation of the country’s business leaders joined the 8th Business Acceleration Program finals and 6th Conference on Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship. And, the USAID was there to celebrate with its partner: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Forum of Pakistan.

USAID, he said, has invested $34 million in training to enhance the capacity of future Pakistani professionals. We are focusing on education, health, energy and governance.

According to Mr. Groarke, the program will train more than 6,000 Pakistanis by May 2017.

`I am proud that the United States and Pakistan share a long history of collaboration on economic growth dating back more than 50 years’, said U.S. Consulate General Political and Economic Chief Chad Peterson.

`Promoting entrepreneurship is important in creating the employment that will lead to increased international competitiveness and higher standards of living for Pakistani families’.

The high-profile event attracted participants from USAID, foreign dignitaries, investors, entrepreneurs, senior academicians and students.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
