PakistanSix PIA flights delayed owing to unions' protest: Spokesman

KARACHI, Pakistan: As many as six Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights were delayed on Tuesday owing to protest by the unions, spokesman of the national flag carrier said.

In a statement on Wednesday, the PIA spokesman informed that the flights were delayed yesterday owing to the `industrial dispute’- protest by the PIA’s unions.

“Due to industrial dispute (protest by PIA unions) six PIA flights were delayed yesterday as protesters entered the main data centre at PIA headquarters pulling out cables and shutting down computer systems”, the spokesman said.

Due to this, PIA’s entire system remain suspended for nearly 3 hours, he added.

“PIA management has requested unions’ leaders to ensure peace during protest as any damage to the system can have serious consequences for the passengers as well as the airline”, the statement added.
