AfghanistanPakistan to control illegal crossing of Pak-Afghan border from next month

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has decided to control illegal crossing of Pak-Afghan border from the next month, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Wednesday.

Talking to newsmen after attending a meeting in Islamabad today, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that no body without legal documents including visa or permit would be allowed to cross the border from 8th of next month.

Malik regretted that Afghanistan did not cooperate to check illegal crossing of the border despite repeated requests from Pakistan. He said that this would also help in controlling smuggling from across the border.

The Interior Minister said that Pakistan and Iran have agreed to set up four check posts two each on Pakistani and Iranian side of the border at Taftan.

The Iranian Interior Minister would visit Pakistan shortly to finalize modalities in this regard, Malik said. He said that duty free trade zones would be established near the check posts.

Rehman Malik said that provinces have been asked to provide details about banned organizations within three days.
