DOHA, Qatar: Pakistan and Qatar on Wednesday signed four agreements and Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) including the liquefied natural gas (LNG) deal under which, Pakistan will import 3.75 million tons of LNG annually from Qatar which will fulfil 20 percent need of Pakistan.

The agreements were signed by the Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the Chairman of Qatar Gas in Doha. The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

The agreements and MoUs were signed to increase cooperation in diverse fields including Radio and Television, education, health and academic research between the two countries.

Earlier, the prime minister reached Doha on a two-day official visit and held a meeting with Emir of Qatar at Diwan-e- Emiri and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in different fields including energy, trade, investment and defence.

In his remarks during the meeting, Sharif said that Pakistan offers attractive incentives for foreign investment and Qatar Investment Authority should explore the potential in different sectors particularly power generation projects.

The prime minster said that Pakistan values its bilateral relations with Qatar and both countries enjoy friendly relations.

Sharif said that Pakistan is a suitable country for investment and quantum of investment should be enhanced.

The Emir of Qatar on this occasion thanked the prime minister for visit and said that Qatar is second home for Pakistanis. He said that Pakistanis have contributed substantially in the development of Qatar.
