Pakistan, Norway agree to further enhance bilateral relations

NEW YORK: Pakistan and Norway have agreed to further enhance bilateral relations especially in the field of energy.

The agreement was reached in a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Norwegian counterpart Erna Solberg at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the existing level of cooperation between the two countries and decided to further enhance bilateral relations especially in the field of energy.

The two leaders also discussed the regional situation particularly with reference to the recent developments in Afghanistan.

The prime minister informed his counterpart about the measures taken by the government to resolve the problem of shortages of electricity in Pakistan and how all possible energy sources were being utilized to generate electricity.

The Norwegian prime minister while appreciating the steps taken by the government to utilize alternate energy sources assured its support to Pakistan in this field.

The prime minister also informed her about favorable investment climate in Pakistan and said that Norwegian companies would be welcome to invest in Pakistan especially in the field of energy and infrastructure development.

The Norwegian prime minister appreciated the role of the Pakistani diaspora in the development of her country.
