BEIJING: Pakistan and China on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation form the construction of Lahore-Karachi Motorway project.

Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, and Chairman China State Construction Engineering Corporation, Yi Jun, signed the MoU from their respective sides.

In an interview with Pakistan Television after the signing ceremony in Beijing on Friday ‚ the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that understanding between Pakistan and China for Lahore-Karachi Motorway project is a major achievement.

The Pakistan premier said that its feasibility would be completed soon and work started. He said the project would benefit entire Pakistan.

Sharif said during meeting with the Chinese Prime Minister‚ it was decided to establish Kashghar-Gwadar economic corridor.

In the second phase‚ Kashghar-Gwadar motorway would also be constructed, he added.
