ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) Chairperson Justice (retd) Ali Nawaz Chohan said that the commission was planning to launch a project for welfare of marginalised children across the country.

He said, solid measures were being made to bring marginalized childern labouring at workshops, restaurants, transport industry as cleaner or conductors, carpet industry etc into the society safety net through a programme, enabling them to support their families.

Talking to media, he informed that the commission has not started its activities properly due to lack of resources, infrastructure, staff etc but it has finalized its strategy to work for masses ensuring their rights without any discrimination.

“The commission has forwarded a request for Rs 100 million to initiate new projects of human rights in the country and after its proper functioning, HR situation in the country would be addressed comprehensively.”

He informed that they have prepared a Plan of Action which would facilitate people at grass root level to redress their grievances.

Another major recommendation for value services of senior citizens, the commission has also asked that pension papers of any retiring persons would be completed till last date of his service.

Their dues should be cleared immediately, otherwise punishment or fine would be imposed on all those who use delaying tactics, he added.

The chairperson maintained that they can take action on any complain received to commission or take suo moto on any news appeared in section of press regarding human rights violations.

He further informed that their endeavour is to complete proceedings of public complaints and announce decisions within a month period only but it depends on the sensitivity of the case under proceeding.

He asked general public that the commission has been set up for their rights protection so they encourage them to come forward and file complaints regarding their issue for making this platform more helpful for all.

The issue would be taken up immediately at proper forum within no time and those found responsible for their grievances would be punished without any pressure or nepotism, he said.
