CrimeKarachi suo motu case: authorities not taking the case seriously: SC

KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) observed on Thursday that authorities are not taking the issue of Karachi law and order situation seriously, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

A four-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Jawwad S. Khawaja was hearing the Karachi law-and-order suo motu implementation case with justices Khilji Arif Hussain, Sarmad Jalal Osmani and Amir Hani Muslim in Karachi at the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry.

During the course of hearing, Justice Jawwad S khawaja remarked that the Sindh Government has not submitted a para-wise report regarding the implement of the court’s orders. Responding to it, Advocate General Sindh said the report presented on Wednesday includes the answers of each paragraph.

Justice Khawaja, then, remarked that it seems as if the authorities are not taking the matter seriously and the court is carrying out a meaningless drill. He said that the report did not include that the people involved in terrorism have support from the political parties.

The concerned authority did not even attempt to answer that which means that they are accepting political interference behind deteriorating security situation in the city, he alleged.

Rejecting previous reports of the provincial government on Wednesday, the court sought a comprehensive report from the Sindh IG and chief secretary on the law and order situation in Karachi in light of its decisions, latest by today.
