The oath-taking ceremony was held at Governor House in Peshawar on Wednesday evening. Governor Engineer Shaukatullah Khan administered the oath to him.

Later talking to media‚ the caretaker Chief Minister said he has been assigned an important responsibility and he will make utmost effort to come up with the confidence vested on him.

The Chief Minister said caretaker cabinet will be announced soon.

Meanwhile, the nomination of Justice (retd) Tariq Pervez as caretaker chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was challenged in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday.

Senior lawyer Muhibullah Kakakhel filed a petition in the court in which he contended that under article 207 of the constitution, the former justice could not become a caretaker chief minister as a government official could not hold public office for two years after retirement.

The petitioner appealed the court to hear this case before 5:00pm today (Wednesday).
