ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ministry of Interior is in process of establishing Executive Passport Offices (EPOs) in 15 major cities of the country and project is expected to be completed by September 2016.

Of the total, EPOs in Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi will be established by end of January 2016 where people would get all facilities for getting their passports.

Ministry of Interior, in its performance report for the last two and half years, on Monday revealed that as per directions of Minister for Interior, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan numerous measures have been adopted with the sole objective to facilitate people as Short Message Service (SMS) Rabta Service for passports was also launched to get feed back of customers.

The other major initiative was approval for establishment of regional passport offices in 73 more districts of the country and also online renewal of Passport and Visa issuance.

Since establishment of Pakistan, a of total 95 passport offices had been working while after the setting up of 73 new passport offices at district level, no district would be without passport offices.

The other achievement on part of the Ministry was installation of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) facilities at 77 Pakistan’s Missions abroad out of total 93. The rest of 16 Missions would have MRP facilities by end of January next to help facilitate overseas in provision of their passports well in time.
