ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday dismissed dual nationality references filed against 35 members of Punjab Assembly (MPAs) for allegedly having dual nationalities, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The ECP had issued notices to 35 MPAs as former ambassador Asif Aizdi had submitted references against MPAs for allegedly holding dual nationalities.

35 MPAs along with their lawyers appeared before the commission and submitted their replies after which the ECP dismissed references against them.

Meanwhile, ECP stated that Asif Aizdi had to submit references based on solid evidences. It said that the former ambassador’s reference led to wastage of time.
