PakistanECP decides to lift ban on hiring in constitutional institutions: Secretary ECP

ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said on Wednesday that the commission has decided to lift the ban on appointment in constitutional institutions including the Supreme Court, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Twenty-five government departments had sent references to ECP seeking to lift the ban on hiring in public sector, ECP secretary said. The ECP would review the references on a case by case basis, he added.

The secretary was of the view that the dissolution of election commission is not possible by constitutional means.

ECP secretary further said that the ECP also decided to contact State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to scrutinize electoral candidates. The commission would chalk out the mechanism to scrutinize electoral candidates after meeting the representatives of the SBP and the FBR, he added.
