Nawaz-Obama meeting concluded without any breakthrough in drone attack issue

Islamabad:  No breakthrough in Nawaz-Obama meeting. Nawaz-Obama meeting concluded without any breakthrough in drone attack issue. Sources claim that US demand for the release of Dr. Shakeel Afridi who managed to find Osama Bin Ladan in Pakistan has created a bitter taste to this meeting.

Diplomatic circles in Islamabad confirm that US has categorically and loudly informed Pakistan that it will not stop drone strikes within the territory of Pakistan, particularly in tribal areas of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan.  US also expressed its concerned that Dr. Shakeel Afridi who helped United States to track down Osama Bin Laden  has been jailed by Pakistan and Pakistan considers him a spy and a person who betrayed his nation while US consider him a hero who worked for whole humanity for finding out Osama Bin Laden (OBL) and helped the world to save it by helping the killing of OBL in Abbotabad Pakistan.

Sources said that when Pakistan talked about stopping drone attacks in Pakistani territory, Pakistan faced a hostile but decent reaction from US side as Obama shared burning issues of South Asian terrorism and said that Jama’at-ud-Da’wah was operating from Pakistan that is an international terrorist organisation. Sources maintained that Obama also shared Indian’s reservation against Pakistan regarding cross-border terrorism injecting from Pakistan to Indian held Kashmir and also discussed that all important Al-Qaeeda fugitives were killed in Pakistan through drone strikes so drone strikes are very useful operative in war on terror and this can not be stopped unless US successfully get its targets.

Speaking at press conference Obama was of the view that US will look how it can help Pakistan in energy sector.

About security issue and terrorism, Obama said we respect sovereignty of Pakistan. He was of the view terrorism mostly damaged Pakistan and Afghanistan issue is important for both the countries. He said both the countries were trying to tailor a long term strategy for peace in Afghanistan.

Mian Nawaz Sharif demanded US-Pak relations in the field of education, development and terrorism.

He said that he talked about drone attacks against Pakistan. He said he also discussed Aafia Saddique and her case.
