ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi has said that Pakistan wants peaceful and cordial relations with all neighbour countries including India and for that Kashmir resolution is prerequisite.

“We support peace in the world and want peaceful and cordial relations with our neighbours,” Fatemi said in a TV interview.

On July 10, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian Counterpart Narendera Modi met in the Russian City of Ufa on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and expressed readiness to discuss all outstanding issues to promote peace and development in the region.

Fatemi said that the Pakistani premier during his meeting with Narendra Modi in Russia made it clear that Kashmir issue should be resolved through talks.

“Pakistan wants to resolve all outstanding issues with India including Kashmir through dialogue,” he said.

The special assistant that the present government has raised the Kashmir issue at all international fora.

During the meeting between two prime ministers in Ufa, they exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional issues. It was decided in the meeting that an early meeting between DG Indian border security force and DG Rangers Pakistan will be held which will be followed by the meeting of DG Military Operations.

Modi also accepted an invitation extended by Nawaz Sharif to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit in 2016.
