discussed measures to expand bilateral trade and investment.

WASHINGTON: The federal minister for finance Ishaq Dar and the US under secretary for economic growth Catherine Novelli held a meeting in Washington during which they discussed measures to expand bilateral trade and investment.

They also discussed elements that could be included in a joint plan to expand trade relations and investment flows over the next five years.

The meeting was a follow up of interaction between US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s interaction in October last year.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar and Cahterine Novelli co-chaired a meeting of the US-Pakistan Economic and Finance Working Group in Washington.

The two sides agreed to continue engagement on US-Pakistan bilateral investment treaty and scheduling a third US-Pakistan Business Opportunities Conference.

Dar and the Iranian minister for finance Ali Tayebnia also held a meeting in Washington and discussed matters pertaining to upcoming meeting of joint economic commission.

They agreed that the meeting will help further to improve economic ties between the two countries.

The Iranian finance minister thanked Pakistan for introducing scholarship programme for Iranian students.
