Pakistan, US agree to expand bilateral trade over next five years

WASHINGTON: A meeting of the US-Pakistan Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) Council was held in Washington, during which both the countries agreed on a joint action plan to expand bilateral trade and investment flows during the next five years.

The Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan led the Pakistani delegation while the US side was represented by Trade Representative Ambassador Michael Froman.

They also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on women’s economic empowerment at the meeting which was also attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani and senior officials from both sides.

Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Dastgir Khan said that Pakistan and the United States are initiating a new era in their trade and economic relations.
