Pakistan, Turkmenistan agree to implement TAPI gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The fourth session of the Pakistan-Turkmenistan joint governmental commission began in Islamabad on Thursday.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to implement the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project and link Turkmenistan with Gwadar port through road and rail line.

On the occasion, the prime minister’s advisor on foreign affairs and national security Sartaj Aziz said that both the countries will work together for the feasibility study and funding of the road and rail project.

The two-day session is being be co-chaired by the minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Sartaj Aziz.

The meeting will focus on measures for trade enhancement and ways to intensify bilateral cooperation in diverse fields including agriculture, communications, Information Technology, education, science and technology, industries, media and culture.
