ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Monday expressed readiness to assist war-torn Iraq in her strides towards reconstruction and rebuilding of the country.

“Pakistan is willing to provide all possible assistance for reconstruction in Iraq,” this understanding was expressed during a consultation of Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Ali Yassin Muhammad Karim with Minister of Defence Production (MoDP) Rana Tanveer Hussain, a news release here said.

“Pakistan and Iraq have been cooperating in the field of defence, mainly encompassing exchange of defence delegations. Pakistan supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Iraq”, Rana Tanveer said.

Rana expressing hope said this meeting will further enhance bilateral defence relations. Pakistan is very much willing to provide skilled and semi- skilled manpower to Iraq, he said.

Dr. Ali Yassin Muhammad Karim highlighted the need for having joint ventures in different sectors. He made special mention that Pakistan and Iraq are facing terrorism as common enemy.

Pakistan and Iraq, brotherly Muslim counties, have traditionally enjoyed cordial relations.
