ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Railways has announced a special package for the Holy Month of Ramadan by reducing fares up to 10-25 percent to facilitate the passengers.

“The special package will be applicable from the start of the holy month of Ramazan till 20th of Ramazan,” a senior official in the Ministry of Railways told the state-run news agency on Monday.

   

The official said the decision has been taken on the directives of Minister for Railways and the facility will be available for the passengers in the form of advanced reservation of seats only.

The step of Pakistan Railways toward reducing fares will be a source of relief for the masses who are already suffering from price hike situation and overcharging of profiteers in Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, he added.

He said that passengers will be provided facility of reduced fares up to 16-25 percent in trains of different classes of Bahauddin Zakaria, Sukker Express, Multan Express and Mehr Express.

The official said that Karachi Express, Pak Business, Jaffer Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express will offer discount in fares up to 11-15 percent.

However, Millat Express, Tez Gam, Awam Express, Allama Iqbal, Subuk Khuram, Rawal Express, Islamabad Express and Margalla Express would give discount up to 10 percent in fares, he added.
