BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to raise the volume of bilateral trade to the tune of US$ 1 billion, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The understanding was reached when the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met his Kazakh Counterpart Beibut Atamkulov on the sidelines of SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek on Wednesday.

   

During the meeting, both the foreign ministers expressed satisfaction at the current level of Pakistan-Kazakhstan bilateral relations.

The two sides agreed to promote their bilateral cooperation in multi-dimensional areas.

While talking to DND News Agency, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Kazakhstan wants to increase cooperation with Pakistan in textiles, defence and aviation.

Qureshi said that the Kazakh side appreciated Pakistan’s strong agricultural and industrial bases especially mangoes and apples from Northern Areas.

Responding to another question, he maintained that there is a complete harmony with Russia on all bilateral and multilateral issues.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that deputy ministerial level talks will be held between Pakistan and Russia in the latter half of 2019.

Meanwhile, the two-day SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting has begun in Bishkek, in which Shah Mehmood Qureshi is representing Pakistan.

The foreign ministers and representatives of eight member countries are attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Ministerial Meeting.

Earlier, the Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov welcomed the foreign ministers and said it is a matter of pride for us to host the meeting.

The foreign ministers thanked the Kyrgyz president for making excellent arrangements.
