ISLAMABAD: President says new Govt in Islamabad led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is committed to promote peaceful relations with India.
Speaking at a dinner‚ he hosted in honour of Islamabad based diplomats last night; he said recent incidents along the Line of Control should not be allowed by India and Pakistan to derail normalisation process.
He said the new government in Islamabad has so far exercised restraint and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is committed to promote peaceful relations with India.
President Zardari said we believe the way forward for the two countries is to resume the stalled composite dialogue process at the earliest for resolving all outstanding disputes.
About Afghanistan‚ the President said Pakistan is committed to support an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process in that country.
Among others‚ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif‚ Chairman Senate‚ Speaker National Assembly‚ Federal Ministers and Members of the Parliament attended the dinner.
