ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has felicitated Sri Lanka on its 72nd Independence Day being celebrated on Tuesday.

“Best wishes to the Government & the people of Sri Lanka on their 72nd Independence Anniversary,” the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in a Twitter statement.

The foreign minister said that Pakistan remains committed to working closely with Sri Lanka to achieve our shared objectives of peace, development, and prosperity within the region and beyond.

The Sri Lankan Independence Day, also known as National Day, is celebrated all over the Country annually on February 4. This year it’s being celebrated under the theme “A Secured Nation – A Prosperous Country”.

Usually, the main celebration takes place in Colombo, where the Sri Lankan president raises the national flag and delivers a nationally televised speech.
