Shahbaz Sharif – who is also the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President – also said that Pakistan is the peace loving Country, and it has rendered unprecedented sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

“In the 21st Century, Pakistan is again perceived as the front line state in the campaign against the terrorism and extremism. In the process, Pakistan has suffered and sacrificed the most, losing 70,000 soldiers and civilian men, women and children,” he said.

The Chief Minister further said that today we are able to show to the world that our gross domestic product (GDP) has touched 5.8 percent which is the highest in the last 13 years.

“We want to double our GDP not by taking on loans but by expanding our tax base. We need to look inward rather than outward,” the Chief Minister added.

Furthermore, he said that Pakistan’s major population comprises of youth and it is now that we need to provide them with opportunities. He said that we need to empower our youth by technical education by providing them with jobs.

“We have to move forward with a sense of achievement. That’s what we have done in past four years. $6 billion savings have been done in Punjab,” Shahbaz Sharif said.

The Punjab Chief Minister said that the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund has been functional since nine years and this is the biggest fund in South Asia. He said that our school enrollment has touched 95 percent and this has been endorsed by third party audit.

Likewise, he added that we are launching CT scan machines in all district hospitals of Punjab. He said that we have launched these machines in majority of District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQ) as of now.

“Money saved has been used in DHQ hospitals, CT scan machines, pathology labs, special ambulance service for women, quality free medicines,” he said.
