Pakistan desirous of better ties with US based on mutual trust: Asif

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal minister for defence Khawaja Asif has said that the government is desirous of better relations with the United States on the basis of mutual respect and equality.

   

Talking to a private television channel, the defence minister said that the United States should trust the military operation successfully continuing in the federally administrated tribal areas (FATA) against various militant groups without any discrimination.

The defence minister said that the Pakistani nation and the army have rendered unprecedented sacrifices in the war on terrorism.

Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan wants good relations with all neighbouring and regional countries to establish lasting peace in South Asia.

The minister said that Kashmiris in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir should be given their due rights without delay. He urged India to resolve this core issue to achieve progress and prosperity for the people of South Asian.

To a question, the minister said that China and Russia are important countries and can play vital role in resolving issues of the region.
