ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The government and people of Pakistan have extended heartfelt condolences over the loss of precious lives as well as injuries to many as a result of a tragic incident in Jordan’s Southern Port City of Aqaba.

Reportedly, 13 people died and 251 suffered injuries in a toxic gas leak from a storage tank at Jordan’s Aqaba port on Monday.

   

“We express deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” said a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Tuesday.

“Pakistan stands in solidarity with the brotherly people and government of Jordan in this moment of grief,” the statement added.

The Jordanian Officials said that the leak came after a tank filled with 25 tonnes of chlorine gas being exported to Djibouti fell.
