ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has strongly condemned the launch of a ballistic missile by Houthis towards Riyadh that had been aimed against civilians and civilian infrastructure.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that the successful interception of the ballistic missile by the Royal Saudi Air Defence prevented the loss of innocent lives and is commendable.

   

The Spokesperson said that such attacks not only violate international law but also threaten the peace and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region.

“Pakistan calls for the immediate cessation of these attacks,” the Spokesperson said.

“Pakistan reaffirms its full support and solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any threats to its security and territorial integrity,” he added.

The Saudi-led military coalition against Yemen’s Houthis said that that it would retaliate for the missile launch “with an iron fist within the framework of international humanitarian law.”

The ballistic missile attack came the same day that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman kicked off a regional tour.
