Pakistan calls for comprehensive strategy to deal with terrorism

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has called for a comprehensive strategy to address the root causes of terrorism, adding that terrorism and extremism should not be associated with any race, ethnicity, value system or society.

Talking part in a debate in the UN Security Council on the subject, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Masood Khan said that the issue should be settled with a long term and multi-pronged policy with a special focus on economic development and resolving of political disputes.

The Pakistan envoy said that terrorism and extremism should not be associated with any race, ethnicity, value system or society.

Masood Khan said that Pakistan’s counter terrorism approach is based on ‘Development’, ‘Dialogue’ and ‘Deterrence’.

Moreover, he said that said Pakistan fully supports steps which ensure weapons of mass destruction do not go into hands of non-state actors.
