KAKUL: In what appears to be a remarkable achievement, the President’s Gold Medal went to Battalion Senior Under Officer Junaid Khan, who hails from Wana, the headquarters of the South Waziristan tribal district.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa gave awards to distinguished Cadets in the Passing Out Ceremony of the 142nd PMA Long Course, 32nd Technical Graduate Course, 61st Integrated Course, 16th Lady Cadet Course and 1st Basic Military Training Course at at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul, Abbottabad on Saturday.

The President’s Gold Medal went to Battalion Senior Under Officer Junaid Khan of 142nd PMA Long Course. The Academy Senior Under Officer joins the 3 Punjab Regiment.

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Overseas Gold Medal was awarded to Under Officer Naazim Naseer of 142nd PMA Long Course from Maldives, the Chief of Army Staff Cane was awarded to Company Junior Under Officer Tanawosh of 32nd Technical Graduate Course, and the Commandant Cane was awarded to Sargent Hamza Tariq of 61st Integrated Course, the Company Sargent Major Ada Urooj of 16th Lady Cadet Course and Company Under Officer Mehwish Anjum of 1st Basic Military Training Course.

Among the cadets, 15 were from the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

Similarly, 54 Passing out Cadets were from Balochistan, among them the son of Senator Hafiz Hamad Ullah, who belongs to the Maulana Fazlur Rehman-led faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F).
