RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: In retaliation to the Indian unprovoked firing targeting innocent civilians, Pakistan army troops killed one Indian soldier and left three further including a Major injured, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

In a press release on Monday, the ISPR said that in last 24 hours, the Indian troops resorted to the unprovoked fire of mortars and heavy weapons in Jandrot and Nikial Sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) deliberately targeting the civilian population in Jabbar, Sandhara, Sumbal Gali and Dabsi Villages of Kotli District.

The ISPR said that 10 innocent civilians including two children and two women sustained serious injuries, and they were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for necessary care.

Furthermore, it said that Pakistan army troops responded effectively to the Indian unprovoked ceasefire violations.

The ISPR said that one Indian soldier was killed and three including a Major got injured while substantial damage was inflicted on Indian posts which initiated the fire.

Meanwhile, the Director General (South Asia & SAARC) Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry also summoned the Indian Charge d’Affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Monday to register Pakistan’s strong protest at the ceasefire violations by Indian occupation forces along the LoC.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
