Rawalpindi, Pakistan: General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has said that Pakistan Army fully supports mainstreaming (Reforms) of FATA in line with aspirations of tribal people.
According to a press statement issued by the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) department of Pakistan Armed Forces, COAS interacted with FATA delegations of Tribal elders and Youth Jirga at ISPR here on Wednesday, COAS held detailed discussion with both delegations separately.
Delegations acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s sacrifices, efforts and contributions for peace & stability and socio economic development of FATA. Delegations expressed their respective views regarding mainstreaming of FATA and way forward.
COAS lauded tribal elders and youth for their determination and support to Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism. He valued their views regarding future of FATA.

COAS said that achievements through sacrifices of brave tribals of FATA are being consolidated while we transit from relative stability to enduring peace. COAS also shared his engagement with Afghan leadership for enhanced cooperation and security measures along Pak-Afghan border.
COAS assured both delegations that Pakistan Army fully supports mainstreaming of FATA and shall pursue it in line with aspirations of tribal brothers.
He advised the youth to continue playing their role towards peace and progress of FATA and Pakistan as they are the future leaders.
Commander Peshawar Corps, DG ISI, CGS and other senior Army officers were also present.
