Pakistan ArmyPhysical contact established with stranded mountaineer Shehroze Kashif at Nanga Parbat: ISPR

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said that the ground rescue team has established physical contact with stranded mountaineer Shehroze Kashif at Camp 2 at 19000 feet at Nanga Parbat.

In a statement on Thursday, the ISPR said Pakistan army aviation pilots will attempt to air lift stranded mountaineers exploiting small weather window available to rescue mountaineers from one of the difficult heights.

Earlier, the ISPR said that Pakistan army, since yesterday, is coordinating a high-risk rescue operation to evacuate stranded mountaineers Shehroze Kashif and Fazal Ali who are stuck at Nanga Parbat.

The Pakistan army’s media wing said that Pakistan army aviation helicopters and a ground search team comprising high altitude porters/rescuers are employed to rescue the mountaineers.

Pakistan army aviation pilots, in a daring attempt, flew two heli missions despite bad weather conditions but couldn’t pick up the mountaineers due to dense clouds and very high altitude.

It said that the ground search team was also nearing stranded mountaineers who were currently at Camp-3 at 21000 feet height.

The ISPR said that the army aviation pilots will fly again today subject to weather conditions as ground team attempt to rescue the mountaineers to Camp-2.
