RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Italian Ambassador to Pakistan His Excellency Stefano Pontecorvo paid a farewell call to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Pakistan army’s general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The COAS thanked the ambassador for his services in Pakistan and acknowledged his contributions towards strengthening Pakistan-Italy relations, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).Italian Envoy pays farewell call on COAS Bajwa

General Qamar Javed Bajwa also congratulated the Italian ambassador on his appointment as the Civil Senior Representative of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Afghanistan.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role for ensuring peace and stability in the region and also pledged to contribute positively towards Afghan peace.

Meanwhile, the President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) Sardar Masood Khan also met the COAS at GHQ in Rawalpindi, and discussed matters of mutual interest particularly the situation on the Line of Control (LOC) and Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K).

The COAS assured the AJ&K president of Pakistan army’s full support and commitment to the Kashmir cause and its people.
