Dushanbe, Tajikistan: The President Emomali Rahmon and the Chairmen Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan General Zubair Mahmood Hayat discussed the situation in Afghanistan during their meeting which held here on Wednesday.

According to an official statement issued by the office of the President, both discussed modalities for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism, drug production and transnational crime.

Chairmen Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan General Zubair Hayat who is visiting Tajikistan was received by the President Emomali Rahmon.

President Rahmon held detail talks with Pakistani General about strengthening the relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan in the security and defense sectors, the military and technical cooperation of the countries in order to address regional challenges and to find ways to address the political and military situation in Afghanistan, was considered very important.

“At the meeting, a wide spectrum of issues related with political, social and economic cooperation of the countries were considered. President Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction over the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between the countries. The sides discussed the issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism, drug production and transnational crime.

Strengthening the relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan in the security and defense sectors, the military and technical cooperation of the countries in order to address regional challenges and to find ways to address the political and military situation in Afghanistan, was considered very important”, included the statement issued by the presidential Office.

It is pertinent to mentioned that the early implementation of “САSA-1000” high voltage power transmission line came also under their discussion.
