RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Defense and Martyrs Day 2019 Ceremony will be organized at Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on September 6 to pay glowing tribute to martyrs, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Wednesday.

While speaking in a Conference held at ISPR with regard to Defense and Martyrs Day 2019, Major General Asif Ghafoor said that unlike the previous year, the ceremony will be held in day time this year.

The director general ISPR said that only families of martyrs and ghazis of Pakistan army will participate in the ceremony.

Major General Asif Ghafoor said told that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will visit the Martyrs’ Memorial at the GHQ and laid floral wreath. He said that the Army chief will also meet the families of martyrs and ghazis.

The DG ISPR said that last year, a program of visiting houses of martyrs was laid down for the first time, and it will be continued. He said that they received very positive response last year, and each of the martyrs was remembered. He said that they will reach out to the families of martyrs this year as well.

Major General Asif Ghafoor appealed to the public to meet martyrs’ families and pay gratitude to them.

Furthermore, he said that pictures of martyrs will be displaced in every nook and cranny. He said that martyrs’ pictures will be posted on buses, trucks, at railways stations, airports and markets. He said that great nations always remember their martyrs.

The DG ISPR said that on the occasion of Defense and Martyrs Day, ceremonies will also be held in various cities, adding that “Kashmir bany ga Pakistan” will also be part of these ceremonies. He added that weapons exhibitions will be held in cantonments.

Talking about “Kashmir Hour” as announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan two days ago, the director general ISPR said that the sirens will be sounded at 12 noon Friday and national and Kashmir anthems will be played.

Major General Asif Ghafoor said that the entire nation will gather in their respective places to express solidarity with Kashmiris. He appealed to the youth especially students to participate in it.

The DG ISPR said that national heroes, showbiz people, and media representatives would also participate with full enthusiasm in solidarity demonstrations.
