Pakistan ArmyCOAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa visiting Australia

Rawalpindi, Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan reached Australia on two-days official visit on the invitation of Australian Army Chief, reports Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) of Armed Forces of Pakistan.

According to a press statement issued here on Monday evening by ISPR, General Qamar Javed Bajwa was given a Tri Service Guard of Honour when he reached Defence Forces Headquarters in Canberra.He was received by Australian Army Chief Lieutenant General Angus J. Campbell and the Naval Chief Vice Admiral Timothy Barrett.
Later, COAS also met Australian Foreign Minister Ms. Julie Bishop and Defence Minister Ms. Marise Payne AR at Australian Parliament House.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa was given a Tri Service Guard of Honour when he reached Defence Forces Headquarters in Canberra.

During these meetings with Australian military and civilian leadership, COAS highlighted regional security situation and Pakistan Army’s contributions towards peace and stability. COAS said that while Pakistan will continue to support all peace efforts however Pakistan expect that security concerns of Pakistan are also addressed. COAS said that Pakistan has improved security situation and has a key role in regional economy.

The Australian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and expressed commitment to further improve the bilateral collaboration in defence and security.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
