Islamabad, Pakistan: The Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser has invited COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa and ISI Chief Gen Faiz Hameed to Parliament House on July 1, 2021, for a briefing on issues of national security, particularly on the Afghanistan situation.
Although the National Assembly Secretariat or Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan armed forces have not released an official statement over this development, Parliamentarians confirmed that all political parties would attend the briefing.
However, the participation of Prime Minister Imran Khan is yet to be confirmed in this expected briefing. The name of Dr. Moeed W. Yusuf, the National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan is yet to be confimed for this briefing.
Pakistan is concern over the swift withdrawal of US-allied forces from Afghanistan where according to intelligence sources over 5,000 terrorists of Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are grouping to attack Pakistan and their prime target is Baluchistan.
Funded and backed by Indian intelligence networking, TTP caused killings of over 70,000 Pakistani from 2006 to 2020 and the group was eliminated through Zarb e Azb operation conducted by Pakistan after the massacre of school-going students at Army Public School (APS) Peshawar.
The last interaction of the Army Chief with parliamentarians took place in September 2020 at GHQ.
