DND News Agency: In Pakistan, discussion over the so-called “hybrid system” has become more of a pastime; even a hobby for those who either dislike the achievements Pakistan is making globally or are unfamiliar with the functioning of modern states, as seen in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and even in several European countries.
Security officials during an interactive and thoughtful session with senior media persons on Sunday, clarified that there is only one system in Pakistan the one that operates strictly in accordance with the 1973 Constitution.
Referring to Article 7 of the Constitution, the official explained that the State comprises Parliament (Majlis-e-Shura), the provincial governments, and the federal government. The Pakistan Army, being created under the same Constitution, is an institution tasked constitutionally with guarding the nation and its interests. It maintains a non-political character and performs its duties beyond any political affiliation.
During the discussion, it was emphasized that the Pakistan Army does not operate on regional, ethnic, religious, or sectarian lines and does not follow any political preferences. Whenever the Constitution and the law, under Article 247, direct the Army to perform specific duties whether handling pandemics, natural disasters, civil unrest, or counterterrorism, it acts on government orders.
Security officials informed journalists that Pakistan Army personnel are being martyred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while fighting against re-emerging terrorism, yet their sacrifices are being politicized by certain elements unhappy with the defeat of terrorists in the province.
Officials categorically stated that no person or institution is more important than Pakistan. They stressed that, under the Constitution, all institutions are arms of the State and must face challenges collectively and this cooperation among institutions cannot be termed a “hybrid system.”
