Pakistan announces T20I and Test Squads for Australia Series

LAHORE, Pakistan: Pakistan on Monday announced its squads for upcoming T20I and Test series against Australia consisting of 16 members each.

The 25-year-old Babar Azam will lead the T20I side in the three-match series against Australia to be held from November 3-8, 2019.

Besides Babar Azam, the T20I Squad includes Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Sohail, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Rizwan (Wicket Keeper), Musa Khan, Shadab Khan, Usman Qadir and Wahab Riaz.

The former Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has failed to find his place in both the squads. While Musa Khan, Khushdil Shah and Usman Qadir have been included in the T20 squad along with the return of Mohammad Irfan.

Hasan Ali has been ruled out of the tour due to back injury while Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named only for Test matches after injury comeback.

The T20I side will depart for Sydney on October 26.

The first T20I of three-match series between Pakistan and Australia will be played at Sydney on November 3, the second at Canberra on November 5, and the third at Perth on November 8.

Prior to the T20I series, Pakistan will also play a warm-up match against CA XI at Bankstown, Sydney, on October 31.

The 34-year-old Azhar Ali will lead the Test side as the Captain, and the rest of the squad includes Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Imam-ul-Haq, Imran Khan Snr, Iftikhar Ahmed, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Rizwan (Wicket Keeper), Musa Khan, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood and Yasir Shah.

The first Test Match will be played at Brisbane on November 21-25 while the second Test (D/N) will be played at Adelaide from November 29 to December 3.

Before that, Pakistan will play a three-day match (D/N) against CA XI at Optus Stadium, Perth, from November 11-13 and then another two-day match against CA XI at WACA, Perth, from November 15-16.
