NEW DELHI: The Indian Communist Party leader D Raja has urged New Delhi to carry forward the composite dialogue process with Pakistan, no matter what Islamabad maintains its position about Kashmir.

“What Pakistan says about Kashmir, it is known to everybody. It is the position of Pakistan. It doesn’t mean India should agree with Pakistan. That is why, there is need to carry forward the composite dialogue process that has begun. Whatever may be the political changes in both countries, both countries must engage themselves in a meaningful dialogue. Dialogue is the only alternative,” Raja told media on Friday.

On Thursday, the Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam at her weekly media briefing said that the Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and not an integral part of India as is claimed by New Delhi.

“Kashmir is a disputed territory and Pakistan does not accept it as a part of India,” Aslam said in reply to a question on the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Indian occupied Kashmir.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that accession of the Jammu and Kashmir to India was illegal.
