ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Nearly a dozen hardcore terrorists were killed while three rangers embraced martyrdom in an operation against the terrorists in the vicinity of Punjab’s Dera Ghazi Khan District on early Friday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
In a statement, the ISPR said that in sequel to the Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), Intelligence Agencies and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) undertook a joint operation against terrorists affiliated with Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and their facilitator, hardened criminals holed up in a hideout in Basti Dadwani near Choti Zerin, 15 Kilometers South of Dera Ghazi Khan.
The ISRP said that during exchange of fire, 9 to 10 hardcore terrorists were killed including Muhammad Asghar Dadwani alias Ustad Gorchani and Muhammad Naeem alias Waqas Dadwani.
Those three soldiers of Pakistan Rangers Punjab embraced shahdat were identified as Havaldar Asif, Sepoy Aftab and Sepoy Azizullah.
Meanwhile, two other soldiers sustained injuries who were evacuated to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Multan by Pakistan army helicopter.
The operation was continuing till the mid-day to flush the area of terrorists who were involved in heinous crimes, ransom and terrorist activities.
Southern Punjab is infected with extremism and radicalization since three decades and had been providing foot soldiers for Afghan Jihad and then Afghan civil war. This area has been popular for recruitment of Jihadis for Afghanistan.
