QUETTA, Pakistan: Six people were killed while further five received wounds when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Panjgur district of Balochistan on Saturday.

Levies sources said that the blast took place in Cheedgi area of Panjgur district near the Pak-Afghan border

Deputy Commissioner Panjgur told media that the injured persons were transported to a nearby hospital where according to Medical Staff, one of the injured is in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Police and Levies personnel cordoned off the area and also initiated a search operation to nab the culprits and their facilitators.

Sources said that the details about the explosive device and its weight etc could not be known yet; however, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDP) and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) had reached the site to probe the incident and gather details accordingly.

The western Balochistan province particularly its Capital Quetta and border areas have long been a victim of terrorism and insurgent violence, a grave situation which the foreign hostile forces are making full use of.
