RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: As many as 14 more hardcore terrorists – tried by Special Military Courts – are set to be hanged as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday confirmed their death sentences, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The ISPR said that these 14 convicted terrorists were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, i.e. attacking Armed Forces/Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) of Pakistan, killing of innocent civilians and destruction of educational institutions/Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Hotel Malam Jabba, Swat.

All convicts were members of proscribed organizations, and they confessed their offences before the Magistrates and the Trial Courts.

In addition, arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession.

Besides, eight convicts were also awarded imprisonment.

Detail of each case is as under:-

  1. Rehman Ali S/O Hassan Ghani, Rehmat Ali S/O Sher Malik, Saif Ur Rehman S/O Akbar Aman and Fazal Mabood S/O Fazal Rabi:

These convicts were involved in destruction of an educational institution and attacking Armed Forces/LEAs, which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Muhammad Hanif along with seven soldiers, a civilian and injuries to 12 others.

They were also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

  1. Irshad Ahmed S/O Mumtaz:

The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking LEAs of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Sepoy Raza Khan. He was also involved in destruction of PTDC Hotel Malam Jabba, Swat.

  1. Afreen S/O Naseem:

The convict was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of five soldiers and injuries to seven others. He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

  1. Ahmad Hussain S/O Qari Muhammad Zarif:

The convict was involved in attacking LEAs, which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Hussain Faraz along with four officials and injuries to five others. He was also found in possession of fire-arms.

  1. Bacha Rehman S/O Masoom Jan:

The convict was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Havildar Muhammad Ilyas along with four soldiers and injuries to six others.

He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

  1. Muhammad Majeed Khan S/O Sanoubar:

The convict was involved in killing of innocent civilians and attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Sepoy Asif Mehmood and injuries to an officer along with two soldiers. He was also involved in destruction of Government Primary School Zangi, Swat and Pakistan Telecommunication Limited Exchange Tower.

Moreover, he was found in possession of explosives as well.

  1. Muhammad Aqil S/O Nawab Ali:

The convict was involved in attacking LEAs, which resulted in death of Assistant Sub Inspector Noor Zaman along with four officials and injuries to five others. He was also found in possession of fire-arms.

  1. Saif Ullah S/O Muhammad Rafique:

The convict was involved in destruction of Government Primary School Langar (Swat) and attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Naik Ghulam Hassan, Sepoy Shoukat Ali and injuries to two other soldiers.

He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

  1. Muhammad Sher Ali Khan S/O Sher Afzal Khan:

The convict was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies, which resulted in death of Sepoy Raza Khan.

  1. Muhammad Tariq S/O Ghulam Badshah:

The convict was involved in attacking LEAs, which resulted in death of Naik Muhammad Suleman and injuries to another soldier.

  1. Ali Rehman S/O Fazal Wahid:

The convict was involved in attacking LEAs, which resulted in death of Sepoy Shoukat Ali and injuries to another soldier.
