PakistanOil tanker owners decide to suspend oil supplies to KPK

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association (POTOA) on Monday decided to suspend oil supplies to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tomorrow in response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) sit-in protest that has caused blockage of NATO supply to Afghanistan for last 10 days.

In a statement, the POTOA vice president Shams Shahwani said the second week has started now since the oil supplies to Afghanistan was also suspended due to closure of supply routes going through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to NATO forces in Afghanistan.

The POTOA vice president said that over 500 oil tankers are struck in different areas of the country, causing billion of rupees loss to the oil tankers owners.

Shahwani further said that they will file a petition against the PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Sindh High Court.

Meanwhile, the PTI and its allied parties’ sit-in protest to block NATO supply going through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Afghanistan till a complete halt to the US drone attacks on Pakistan’s territory entered tenth consecutive day today.

The PTI and JI activists have set-up a protest camp at Ring Road near Hayatabad’s toll plaza area in Peshawar. They are checking the documents of the containers and block transportation of any container if it is found carrying NATO supply.

The protest by the PTI and its allied parties in the provincial government started after a US drone had carried out a strike in the Tal area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, causing several causalities on November 21.
